Back to Reality

RECAP... AGAIN
I first want to start off by apologizing about not having a post-game for last week's win against Allen. I had created one, but apparently it had never posted. So I will recap it again quickly. Overall it was a easy game for our Patriots. The offense came out firing behind Lukas as he threw for 3 td's. The score was 41-0 at half, after domination on both sides of the ball, along with Freedom capitalizing on Allen's poor mistakes, it wasn't much of a contest. It was nice to see the back-ups be able to get a whole 16 minutes of Varsity football under their belts as well.

Back To Reality
As we return back to BASD Stadium for the second consecutive week, we go up against a much more difficult opponent. With Emmaus coming off a strong win over Parkland, they'll be plenty ready to try and continue their hunt as one of the top teams in the LVC. But I believe Freedom is thinking differently. It's truly back to battle in the extremely hard LVC, after last week's easy win, hopefully we'll bounce right back into full gear. I asked Decker (#83) what they have been going over in practice to take down an underrated Hornets team, he answered with, "We have been harping on reading our keys and doing our job.We can't go out of our way to try and make undisciplined plays and make mistakes, because a team like Emmaus will take advantage of it real quickly. I feel confident thought that our team is ready to get the job done."
THE HORNETS
Decker's statement couldn't have hit it on the nose any better. THEY WILL TAKE ADVANTAGE OF MISTAKES. Emmaus is coming into this game with 6 interceptions in their past 2 games. Now that is impressive. So that means they have a solid line up front that will put pressure on opposing quarterbacks, along with a great set of dbacks to pick the ball off. Offensively they have a solid running game, and will also throw the ball with Nick Fick behind center who was named Western Lehigh Exchange Club's offensive MVP(2 rushing tds) not sure what that is or if it is even meaningful, but it's got to be worth something. And the Hornet's are coached by an enthusiastic Joe Bottiglieri. This Emmaus team is no push over.
KEYS TO THE VICTORY
OFFENSIVELY
Freedom has got to come into this game ready to play and ready to put up TD's. They basically had half a game last week, so they should be ready to rumble. Coming into this game Giovarelli is hot, but I believe us running the ball will win us this game. This is no knock on Lukas, because he's got what it takes to throw on Emmaus, but we are a run first team. And with the strong running game we have, if we can light up the Hornets for some quick big gains on the ground, it will open up the pass game nicely for Luke. Eddie Elliott is coming off a little injury, but he is back to full strength so he will be able to run hard like we all know he can.
DEFENSIVELY
Karb rushing the QB
We need to get lots of pressure on the quarterback(Fick). We struggled greatly against the scrambling quarterback in Nosovitch(Central's quarterback), but he is not nearly as good as that stud. If we can cause Fick to throw unwanted and rushed passes(he has been intercepted often), our secondary should do well.
OVERALL
Freedom needs to get past the problem of missing two starting linebackers(O'Donnell & Santiago). Also if we can keep our turnovers to a minimum and keep Emmaus's strong secondary from making any big plays, We should put ourselves in a great position to do very well in this LVC showdown.

TBiZ Predicts:
First Down
This is going to be a very close game the whole entire 32 minutes of football. I believe Freedom is going to have to keep possession of the ball and keep moving the chains consistently. With two teams that are very even in skill and caliber, the name of the game is TURNOVERS. And I believe Freedom will have less turnovers then Emmaus, and Freedom will capitalize on the Hornets. I see Freedom with a 2-1 LVC record after tonight.

HOME SWEET HOME

RECAP:
Well last week was a good old butt kicking. Nothing else... nothing less. Allentown Central Catholic was an overall very good team. I'll start off by giving my usual part to my recap of the last game, but I'm going to keep it short and sweet because no one wants to remember last week, its OUR past.

BOUNCE BACK:
Now on to the important stuff this upcoming game at the BASD Stadium against Allen. This game will be a rebound game, which is exactly what we need. Freedom will come out firing at the very weak Allen defense. With the down game our runningbacks had last week, I know we will bounce back with tons of running offense this week. And Giovarelli should be able to rip apart the secondary of the Canaries.

ALLEN
Not much to say about this squad. There an overall OK team, but never really seem to be able to play with the LVC fellow teams. With an average running game, that is all the Pates will be worried about this Friday. and their defense, we should be able to dominate them. Now I am being very optimistic right now, but I feel very strongly that Freedom is going come out very strong in their first HOME game of the year.
Keys to the Victory
OFFENSIVELY
RUN the ball. And keep RUNNING the ball. With our great backs we should be just fine in doing so. And as long as our o-line gives Lukas time, we should be set to give them a beating.
OVERALL
Play as a TEAM. The only way we know how to play, and the only way Roeder has taught them. OUR WAY.

TBiZ Predicts:
Should be an easy game and not much to talk about. With our extremely talented offense, we should eat up the Allen Defense. I hope to see a good beating by half time, so our back-ups can get some reps.

A TRUE TESTER...SO EARLY

Welcome Back Fellow Pates Fans,
UNDERDOG
Talk about an exciting weekend for the Patriot community... well at least for me. I get to watch Freedom play one of the top ranked 3A football team in the state, PSU take on #1 ranked Alabama, and the Eagles play the Packers. One thing comes to mind when I list all these upcoming events, and that's being the Underdog, and I don't mind that one bit.
UNDER THE RADAR
#52 DRod
Nothing better than starting your season off with playing back to back predicted favorites of the MVC and LVC... to boot away games. But I don't think the Patriots would have it any other way. The talks around the halls and at lunch are all about making a statement. When I asked Dave Rodriguez(our undersized lineman, but the biggest heart to win) how he feels being the underdog he answered, "I think it puts us in a greater position to go into the game and beat Central, it gives us that chip on our shoulder and fires everyone in the locker room up... it gives us once again the shot to make a HUGE statement in the LVC." Well the Pates are going to have to bring their A game... better yet their A+ game to win this very tough match-up. But I think it is definitely a doable task.
THE VIKINGS
#5 Nosovitch
ACC is coming into this game with their own little chip on their shoulder as well, predicted LVC champions for 2010, in 2009 they were Co. champions of the LVC, along with District 11 3A champs. Returning tons of talent from last year such as, quarterback Brendan Nosovitch, who has already started the year off right with winning Player of the Week for the Morning Call(threw for 199 yards and rushed for 165 yards with 4 total td's). Also Shane McNeely one of Brendan's favorite target on offense... but his real threat is at LB where he led the team in tackles. Talk about an overall solid team.
 KEYS FOR THE PATRIOT VICTORY
OFFENSIVELY
# Rene back from his illness
Freedom is going to have to come in to this game confident and determined. With the match-up in our favor on the trenches where our O-line will go up against a very young D-line, we will have to run the ball just as well if not better than last game. Which I believe will happen from our "FOUR HEADED" monster of running backs which includes Elliott, Rene, Alozie, and Santiago. If these four can combine for a great amount of rushing yards, we should set up Giovarelli to be able make some solid throws... because we all know Central is coming with a ton of defenders in the box to stop the dangerous run game we have.
DEFENSIVELY
#69 Karb
This will be the difficult task of the game, stopping a future Division 1 quarterback(in my opinion). In order to do so we are going to have to put a great amount of pressure on him and not only that, the linebackers are going to have to keep a watchful eye on his ability to just take off and run. Because if he can just scramble around at will and throw to his great talent of wide-outs, it will be a tough football game to win. I have confidence in our D-line though, with Richard Karb leading the pack, they should be able to take some weight off the shoulders of our young secondary.
OVERALL
If our Freedom Patriots can contain ACC's explosive offense, work our run game to perfection, and like Coach Roeder said, "If we all do our jobs as a team, we will prevail in the end."

TBiZ Predicts:

This game is going to be a LVC classic, hardnose football on both sides of the ball, won be an extremely small margin. But with our smashmouth run game and ability to break off long runs for big gains, we will out do the Central offense. I say we will come out of J. Birney Crum Stadium with a huge W, raising our helmets high.

Thanks for reading and I hope to see everyone at game tonight. LETS GO FREEDOM!

HAPPINESS IS AN UNDERSTATEMENT

Welcome Pates fans,
FREEDOM-48
East Stroudsburg South-18

Recap on My Predictions
Well I undershot the score quite a bit for the freedom score, but I almost had the ESS score. Freedom came out of this game wondering what all this "Purple Pit" talk even was?

The Game
Talk about domination on all sides of the football. I couldn't be any happier with the way freedom played. It made the fans and student section quite excited for this upcoming promising season.

Okezie Alozie (88 yds. 1 td)
Freedom started the game slow with only scoring one td in the first quarter(Okezie Alozie). But then obviously picked it up from there. With Eddie "E Boogey" Elliott's unbelievable first game as a Patriot, the squad literally ran all over the top dog in the MVC.

Aside from the running game, the passing game was there for Lukas Giovarelli who had a few good throws, but just a little over thrown(Bucsi had some nice completions from Gio). Luke was also intercepted once, but by a kid on his way to play Big East football, so that's very forgivable.

One word comes to mind with the Offensive Line.... Unbreakable. Luke wasn't touched all game, with the o-line surrendering zero sacks. I would call that a good day and hello cheesesteaks!(if no sacks are recorded the o-line gets cheesesteaks) And the defense as a unit did a solid job.
 Optimism
I think overall Freedom Football definitely made a strong statement with this season opener and are on their way to proving many people wrong. Can't wait till next Saturday when we take on predicted top contender for the LVC... Allentown Central Catholic.
  Motivation
"Chris Berman always talks about the Jacksonville Jags as being a "Yeah, but." team. They're good, but just not good enough when it matters most. The Patriots are kind of like that in both football and boys basketball in the LVC. Maybe that will change this year."(as quoted by Morning Call's "so called expert" Keith Groller) If that's not motivation for this year, I don't know what is. All I got to say is Mr. Groller... Don't sleep on us!!!!!!!!

THE PREDICTION

FREEDOM- 27
EAST STROUDSBURG SOUTH- 20

Hope to see a good turnout in the bleachers tonight and i wish the Pates luck. As long as we stick to fundamentals(which I believe Freedom is stronger at) I feel pretty confident we will bring back a big W to Bethlehem.

Please come back tomorrow for my POST GAME blog... along with Tuesday 9/7 with my interview with Coach DeNofa(I know I said today but he was very busy today with the game and barely even in class, so the interview will be posted on Tuesday).  Thanks for reading.

THE 24 HOUR COUNTDOWN HAS BEGAN

Welcome Freedom Football Fans,
Committed to Pittsburgh University 8/18/10
THE OPPONENT:
In less than 24 very long painful awaiting hours the official start to the highschool football season for the patriots will kick off with a very difficult match up. Our Pates will be going up against the Cavaliers of ESS. A true disadvantage to start the year on the road, but that will not phase the Pates. The Cavs are coming into this game confident(winning the MVC 5 out of the past 6 years) coming off a great 2009 year with a perfect record in the conference. With this team comes their stud, one of the top cornerbacks in the state,Kyshoen Jarrett(pictured), returning. Along with other all-conference players to boot. This team will run the MVC once again this year hands down.
THEE PATRIOTS
Athletic, Fast, Explosive etc. Label the Patriots as you wish, but they are coming into this season full force and with plenty of weapons. Not only do they have some freaking serious talent from last year, but they also have some new guys sure to make an impact(Angel Rosado, Frank Busci,JJ Rene, Evan Kauffman, Nick Kopchak, Eddy Elliott). Also bringing back an experienced strong offensive/defensive line, along with key players at other positions, Freedom looks to make a serious run at the LVC. I mean come on, if the morning call thinks Freedom will do well(mcall usually has zero respect for freedom) I have a lot of confidence then in our team.
I'm not worried one bit to go up against "Team Purple" thanks to two of my real close friends Nick Cecala and Richard Karb(our monster linemen). I asked Nick how the crew prepared for the game this past month, he replied, "Roeders been working us to out condition them, out tough them, out strengthen them, and straight up out play them." Then I asked Rich how does it feel going into play in the self-proclaimed "Purple Pit". He answered me with strong words,"Alone, with a hostile environment, nothing but each other? I wouldn't have it any other way. Friday we take that field together. Freedom High will make a statement doing it OUR WAY." And by the looks of the teams practices throughout the summer with captains (senior quarterback Lukas Giovarelli, Nick Cecala, JJ Rene, and junior star Okezie Alozie) leading the squad it seems the coaches were successful in preparing the army to take the battlefield. The team will only be playing football one way tomorrow, OUR WAY, and that's the only way Coach Roeder is going to have it. LETS GO FREEDOM!

TBiZ Predicts: The games going to be won between the trenches, plain and simple. Who will win the battle at the line? Of course we got the stronger line in combination to our extreme depth at runningback(JJ Rene, Eddy Elliott, Okezie Alozie, AJ Santiago) , along with the defense to shut down their explosive offense.
